Say good-bye to a longtime university landmark and meet alumni, scholars and students propelling CSUEB’s future in the current edition of Cal State East Bay Magazine, now and for .

Focusing on the theme “Bold Voyagers: Pioneers at the Forefront of Their Fields,” the summer edition of the university magazine introduces readers to cover story subject Scott Chambliss ’85, a theatre arts major who has built a stunning career as production designer to major Hollywood movies including the two most recent Star Trek films and the upcoming Disney film, Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney.

As you browse further through the magazine’s pages, you’ll learn about Warren Hall’s past through reminiscences shared by alumni and employees about studying and working in the former 13-story tower that dominated the skyline of the Hayward campus and surrounding community for 40 years. Plans for a future seismically safe administration building on the opposite side of the Hayward campus also are outlined.

In our alumni profile about “Pioneer in Chief” Chancellor Tim White ’72, readers get to know the new leader of the California State University’s 23-campus system, who toured his alma mater earlier in the year. Based on his up-close interactions with the university community – including a few dance moves with students – White’s tenure promises a fresh approach.
