A digest of top, need-to-know dates, deadlines and events for faculty, staff and students, "This Month at CSUEB" is a regular feature of The View e-News. Read on for updates and previews of what’s happening at Cal State East Bay in the coming month:

• Get inspired and pick up useful tips on subjects ranging from programming and publicity to diversity and social media at the Nov. 9 Fall 2013 Student Leadership Conference. Organized around the theme "Pioneers Making An Impact!," the event features a 9 a.m. keynote address by leadership expert Rhett Laubach. Check out his . The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the University Union multipurpose room. in advance; limited on-site registration will be available.

• Get acquainted with CSUEB’s Contra Costa County site and its offerings from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 21 during the Concord Campus Open House. The event is geared toward prospective students. Or volunteer to lend a hand by contacting Darice Ingram at darice.ingram@csueastbay.edu.

• Kids ages 5 to 12 can sharpen their hoops skills at the Fall Development Clinic Series offered by Cal State East Bay’s Men’s Basketball. The coed program will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 10, 17 and 24. The per session cost is $25. Contact Tyler Ojanen at tyler.ojanen@csueastbay.edu to sign up or get more information.

• Managing stress in a positive way makes CSUEB employees more effective educators and administrators, allowing the university community to better serve our students. Explore how stress shows up in our lives and the tools needed for support at a Nov. 7 stress management workshop scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. .

• Learn helpful language and points of view to put in use when approaching interpersonal conflicts at a Nov. 14 workshop, “Interpersonal Relationships and Working with Difficult Encounters.” to attend the session, scheduled from noon to 1 p.m.

• The Diversity Center’s Between the Lines Speaker Series continues Nov. 14 with a presentation called “Note to Educators: Hope Required When Growing Roses in Concrete” by Associate Professor Jeff Duncan-Andrade, who teaches in San Francisco State University’s departments of Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Technologies and Raza Studies. He’s also an English instructor at Oakland’s Mandela High School and director of the Educational Equity Initiative at the Institute for Sustainable Economic, Educational and Environmental Design (ISEEED). The lecture starts at 3 p.m. and will be held in the New University Union multipurpose room.
