Stanford football great Darrin Nelson is among the 2014 class of the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced Thursday.

Nelson was the first college player to rush for more than 1,000 yards and catch at least 50 passes in a season, which he did three time during his Stanford career from 1977-81. He was sixth in the 1981 Heisman Trophy vote. He also set an NCAA record with 6,883 career all-purpose yards, rushing for 4,033 yards while at Stanford.

Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, who starred at Concord's Ygnacio Valley High School and a former offensive coordinator at Cal State Hayward (now Cal State East Bay) is one of two coaches voted in.

Former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson (TCU), standout receiver Sterling Sharpe (South Carolina) and the late Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas (Alabama) are also part of the class, to be inducted at the National Football Foundation's awards banquet in December.
