49 student-athletes earn CCAA All-Academic honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Cal State East Bay placed 49 student-athletes on the 2013-14 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Team, announced Tuesday. This year marks the most CCAA All-Academic honorees for the Pioneers since the University joined the conference in 2009-10.
To be eligible for CCAA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have earned a varsity letter, have competed in one of the CCAA's sponsored sports, and have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher while completing a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units during the current academic year.
For the second year in a row, all twelve of CSUEB's CCAA-sponsored teams were represented on the All-Academic list. Women's soccer led the way for the fourth straight year with nine honorees. Baseball and men's soccer totaled seven awards winners each, followed by softball with six, volleyball and men's cross country with five apiece, and women's basketball and men's track with four each. In addition, the Pioneers had two honorees each from women's cross country and women's track, and one each from men's basketball and men's golf.
East Bay reached new heights in the CCAA both academically and in competition in 2013-14, finishing with 21 All-CCAA honorees, 12 Player of the Week awards, a CCAA Freshman of the Year award (Sarah Perrin), and the school's first-ever CCAA Championship (All-American triple jumper Lauren McGlory).
