California State University, East Bay's Department of Public Affairs and Administration and the Healthcare Association of Cal State East Bay will host a free health care forum—"Building a Bridge to California's 21st Century Health Care System"—on Saturday, December 6, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the University Union Multipurpose Room, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward, CA. This free event is open to the community and is limited to the first 75 registrants.

The purpose of the forum is to further elevate student, faculty and staff, business, civic and community leaders' awareness and understanding of the unprecedented transformation of California's health care systems and their journey to improve the physical and financial health of individuals, families, businesses, communities, and education and community-based organizations.

Health care industry experts will discuss how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Covered California (the state's nationally recognized health benefit exchange) and consumers, employers and health providers are profoundly changing the landscape of California's health care systems. "We are excited to host this free community event and look forward to sharing our perspectives on the transformation in the California health care system," says Dr. Toni Fogarty, professor of health care administration at CSUEB. "It will be a great opportunity for members of the community to learn about changes that could affect them."

The keynote speaker will be Wright L. Lassiter III, chief executive officer for the Alameda Health System. There will also be a panel discussion featuring:
