Cal State East Bay junior soccer player Kellen Crow has been named to the 2014 College Division Scholar All-West Region First Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Crow is the first Pioneer ever to be recognized with Scholar All-Region honors.

"Kellen is a well-rounded student-athlete and a great role model to his teammates," said head coach Andy Cumbo. "He's an excellent ambassador of our men's soccer team and Cal State East Bay as he promotes our commitment to excel on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Kellen has had an impressive past three years and is preparing for a tremendous year as a senior student-athlete next fall."

A native of Pleasanton, Calif., Crow maintains a 3.68 grade point average as a business administration major. He was one of just three student-athletes from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) to be selected for the Scholar All-Region First Team.

On the field, Crow has played in 53 games in three seasons at East Bay. In 2014, he made a team-high 17 starts at the defender position and picked up a pair of assists. After the season, he was named Third Team All-West Region by the NSCAA, along with teammate Chris Lara.

In order to be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution.
