Cal State East Bay senior A.J. Hebert has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golfer of the Week for Feb. 18-24.
Hebert finished as runner-up at the 2015 Coyote Classic hosted by Cal State San Bernardino at the par-70 Arrowhead Country Club — he shot 65 (-5) in Tuesday's final round, the lowest tournament score by any Pioneer golfer since joining the CCAA in 2009.
The Pleasanton native finished with a three-round total of 211 (+1), tied for second place, and was three strokes behind the individual medalist.
Hebert’s 65 was the lowest round by any golfer in the tournament, and the lowest competition score of his career. It consisted of six birdies and a bogey, and he went four under par on the front nine. The left-hander led the Pioneers to 12th place in the event, but the team's score of 291 (+11) in the final round was tied for the best of any school in the field.
Hebert is the second East Bay golfer to earn the conference's weekly award for the 2014-15 season, following teammate Adam Stone, who captured honors back on Oct. 8.
