INSIGHT Into Diversity, a leading publication in the area of diversity in higher education, has recognized Cal State East Bay for its inclusivity both on campus and abroad.
An article by Rebecca Prinster in the magazine’s June 2015 issue highlights CSUEB’s diverse student body and the university’s commitment to expanding its diversity programs. In addition to programs geared toward retaining community college transfers, particularly those that are Latino or African American, the article also highlighted CSUEB’s commitment to disability accessibility in its study abroad programs.
Cal State East Bay’s Diversity Office, led by University Diversity Officer Dianne Rush Woods, Ph.D., often collaborates with individuals and organizations on campus, as well as with those outside the university.
“It is through these different interactions and relationships with the surrounding community of Cal State East Bay that our university is becoming increasingly known for (its) diversity,” Woods said. “Our campus was among those universities selected for the 2014 INSIGHT Into Diversity HEED Award, and that has also helped put a spotlight on our efforts and advances in diversity at CSUEB.”
The magazine’s HEED Award (Higher Education Excellence in Diversity) was given to 82 institutions that demonstrate outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
