Cal State East Bay alumnus Will Adams (BA ’99, Mass Communication) was awarded two local Emmys on Saturday, June 6 as part of the production team for an investigative piece on illegal food storage, as well as for his work as a member of the “Best Evening Newscast” in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Adams has worked for NBC Bay Area’s production department for 15 years, and this is his first Emmy win.
“I am glad my wife was there to share the moment with me,” said Adams. “She has had to put up with me not being home at night and was just as excited as I was. It was awesome!”
Adams received an Emmy for his contributions to a TV news investigative special report that exposed unlawful food storage practices. He worked as the floor director on the story presented by NBC Bay Area’s Investigative Reporter Vicky Nguyen. Adams’ second Emmy was awarded for “Best Evening Newscast.” He directed the 11 o’clock show on Aug. 24, which featured Napa earthquake coverage.
“Wow! Over 20 years ago this journey started and it validates the origins of my start at Mt. Eden High School in Hayward, “ Adams said. “Now kids can see you don’t have to just be in front of the camera to get recognized.”
Cal State East Bay lecturer and NBC Bay Area’s Chief Meteorologist Rob Mayeda also won an Emmy for being a part of “Best Evening Newscast.”
