Debbie Chaw has been selected as Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer at California State University, East Bay, following a national search. Chaw has served in this position in an interim capacity since May 9, 2015.

“During her career, Ms. Chaw has distinguished herself as a leader in finance as well as a manager committed to integrity and fairness,” said Cal State East Bay President Leroy M. Morishita. “Her knowledge of the CSU, as well as private and non-profit enterprises are a great asset for CSUEB. We are pleased by her work here, both in University Advancement and as the Interim Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer.  I am very excited Debbie will continue to lead the Administration and Finance team as we advance our strategic University mandates.”

Morishita praised the search committee for its diligent work throughout the process, and recognized the significant involvement of the university community in the search process.

Chaw said she is excited about the opportunity ahead.

“I am honored that President Morishita has appointed me to serve as Cal State East Bay’s Vice President of Administration and Finance,” she said. “I look forward to working with the President, his cabinet, and the rest of the campus community in advancing the university mission and enhancing student success.”

Previously, Chaw was the Executive Director of Advancement Services and Foundations at CSU East Bay. Before coming to CSU East Bay in 2012, she served as chief of operations for six years in University Advancement at San Francisco State University. Prior to her work in higher education, Chaw was CFO and Vice President of Administration at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and spent 13 years at AT&T in finance, product management and marketing.
