- January 20, 2016
Cal State East Bay goalkeeper has been named the KAP7 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week.
Vaughn, a junior transfer from Riverside City College, led the Pioneers to a 12-9 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday at San Jose State's Lou Strong Memorial tournament. It was CSUEB's first victory over a Division I opponent since the 2013 season.
Vaughn made 12 saves against the Roadrunners just hours after racking up 17 saves in the season opener against the host Spartans, who entered the contest ranked No. 8 in the nation. The Pioneers were tied 8-8 with SJSU entering the fourth quarter before the home team pulled out a narrow 13-9 win.
For the weekend, Vaughn led all WWPA goalies with an average of 14.5 saves per game and a .569 save percentage. She also chipped in two steals and one assist for East Bay.
