Cal State East Bay STEM Education Leader Stephanie Couch to be Inducted into Alameda County Women91麻豆天美app Hall of Fame

In recognition of her contributions to the Alameda County community, Stephanie Couch, the Bayer executive director of Cal State East Bay’s Institute for STEM Education, will be inducted into the at its 23rd Anniversary Luncheon and Awards Ceremony on March 19.

“We are extremely proud of Stephanie and the significant leadership she has demonstrated on our campus and in the community,” said Interim Provost Carolyn Nelson. “She is very deserving of this outstanding honor.”

Couch will join 11 other women chosen from a group of 80 nominees to be honored on March 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Oakland’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The event is hosted by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women.

According to the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame, Couch is receiving recognition in the education category for her work with community partners to increase access to learning opportunities and student success in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) for youth across the region.

“This honor validates the work many individuals at Cal State East Bay and in the community are doing together to ensure that young people obtain the knowledge and skills needed for jobs that pay living wages and for decision making in their daily lives,” Couch said. “It is a collective effort, and I am grateful to represent the many partners in the region advancing STEM education.”

Couch will share the stage with Cal State East Bay Alumna Leora Feeney (BS ’89, Biological Sciences), who is also being inducted for her work to help the environment. Feeney is a longtime volunteer with the Golden Gate Audubon Society. 

The Women’s Hall of Fame supports women, youth and families by making charitable donations to community-based organizations in Alameda County. The Women's Hall of Fame "Leading the Way" Youth Scholarship Fund helps propel young leaders to meaningful civic engagement.
