CSUEB Alumni Create Organization to Get Students to Engage on Social Media

- March 28, 2016
A group of Cal State East Bay alumni has created an organization called whose mission is to elevate CSUEB’s social media presence through student engagement. By encouraging students and others to post photos of the campus and its scenic views on Instagram, FBN hopes to heighten university pride.
FBN will officially launch at an event called FBNxCSUEB InstaMeet on the Hayward campus on April 1, with the intention of bringing the concept to other CSU campuses and to the University of California system in the future.
“FBN has created a model designed to humanize the social media experience through cultivating an atmosphere of genuine interaction powered by student engagement,” said FBN co-founder Jordan Leopold. “While doing this, we highlight our home campus to fellow students and local community members.”
Three hundred students and Bay Area community members are expected to attend FBNxCSUEB, which starts at noon inside the multipurpose room at the Student Union. The day includes food, a campus tour and photo walk for participants to capture images of campus life and the university landscape (including panoramic views of the Bay) and share them on Instagram via the hashtags #FBNxCSUEB and #CSUEB.
Following the walk, workshops will be offered focused on self-branding, camera and photo-editing techniques, and women in photography.
