Semester Conversion Student Handbook Available Soon

  • November 4, 2016

Cal State East Bay students will soon have a handbook designed to help them navigate semester conversion and the many changes it will bring when fully implemented in fall 2018.

According to Larry Bliss, a member of the subcommittee of the Advising Committee of Semester Conversion and director of the Academic Advising and Career Education center, the team has been working all summer on the handbook. It is based on a similar document created by CSU Bakersfield, but has updates and revisions that reflect information and issues specific to Cal State East Bay.

“It will contain information for students about the difference between quarters and semesters, the way to translate their quarter units into semester units, and other information about what to expect,” Bliss said.

The task force hopes to run through the final draft of the handbook in the coming weeks and will print some copies for AACE and post a digital version on the semester conversion website.

“[This handbook] is important because we want students to be comfortable with the semester conversion and more information is better,” Bliss said.
