A Message from President Morishita: Inside East Bay, August 2018

- August 8, 2018
Summer has flown by and in a few short weeks we will begin our first fall semester term. The digital billboards tracking the days left until school starts will soon begin reminding students about their options to rent textbooks, upcoming fall semester kickoff events and more. Classrooms will once again fill with students — from new freshmen just learning how to navigate Meiklejohn Hall to senior students, confident and engaged with the clubs and organizations that have shaped their college experience.
Preparing for semester conversion has been a multi-year, cross-departmental endeavor. I would like to thank all of you for putting in so much time, energy, and effort towards ensuring all students know to “make every class count.” I am excited about the start of a new academic year and the first day of classes and hope you feel the same.
I hope to see you at the fall faculty and staff convocation on Friday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m. in the University Theatre. The ceremony recognizes you, our dedicated faculty and staff, and sets the tone for the upcoming school year. We will celebrate the strides we are making as we continue “Rising in the East” and speak about our priorities for the year.
A light breakfast reception begins at 8 a.m. in the theatre courtyard and a livestream will be available for those at the Concord campus. I look forward to seeing you as we begin an exciting new academic year.
