Transfer Ambassador Cynthia Munoz

What are some accomplishments you have achieved at Cal State East Bay that you are most proud of thus far?
I am proud that in my first year I was able to get good grades every quarter while taking 5 to 6 classes. In the Spring quarter I got straight A's and was placed on the Dean's List.

What is your favorite spot to study on campus?
My favorite spot to study on campus is in the special programs study room located in the Student and Faculty Building. It is quiet and secluded, and it has everything you need without having to walk far.

Hidden gem on campus?
The area by the Music Building is so nice and peaceful. It is an awesome place to go study or just go relax.

What was your biggest fear as a new transfer student?
My biggest fear was going from semester to quarter and that I would not adjust to the change.

What does being a Transfer Ambassador mean to you?
I hope I can help those incoming transfer students have the most successful transition; that students can come to me with questions or concerns and that I will try to help them with the most helpful advise based on my experiences.

What is some advice or tips for incoming transfer students?
My advice to incoming transfer students is to get involved; that is the way to meet new people and make new friends. Join a club or organization and that really makes your time at Cal State East Bay more fun and memorable. I also recommend to meet with your major adviser as early as possible every quarter and not wait until the end. Many students wait until the end and then appointments fill up quickly.

Do you work or have internships while at Cal State East Bay? On Campus or off campus?
I have been a student lab assistant for the Microbiology Department. I am a Transfer Ambassador and GANAS Ambassador. I also work as a Pioneer for Change through the Center for Community Engagement. As a Pioneer for Change I also engage with the community through an internship at the South Hayward Parish which is off campus.

What do you love about Cal State East Bay?
I love Cal State East Bay's diversity and that the school is very welcoming and supportive to all students. I also love the food trucks on campus.

The best I advice I received as an incoming transfer student was
Do not procrastinate on the quarter system

What are your plans after you graduate?
I want to apply to graduate school and get my Masters in Public Health.
