EAP for Educators

What is EAP For Educators?

The CSU provides high school English and mathematics teachers with extensive professional development opportunities as well as rigorous curricula created by teams of CSU faculty and secondary education professionals.

The Early Assessment Program (EAP) for Educators includes the opportunity to implement the CSU Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) at their school and also attend the and . EAP also allows Educators to implement the various Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning (QR) courses including the and attend upcoming Math/QR workshops (see resources below for more information).

CSUEB's Early Assessment Program also provides many other outreach services to students and educators in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Please see the information below on the types of services offered, how to request a presentation, and how to subscribe to our newsletter!

Why is EAP important?

EAP helps students to become academically prepared and ready for their college/career goals and academic needs by providing various tools and resources along with opportunities to adjust senior-year coursework if needed. Our primary goal is to have California high school graduates enter the CSU fully prepared to begin college-level English and mathematics courses.

We prioritize presenting to 9th-12th grade high school students in order to provide information about the in the General Education (GE) English (A2) and Math (B4) courses. We encourage students who will begin CAASPP testing in the Spring semester of their junior year to say “Yes, release” their CAASPP-EAP test scores on the test in order to save time when trying to access their scores and to do their best because these test scores can be used as one of the Multiple Measures for Placement once they are admitted to a CSU campus. Students who complete the required GE A2 and B4 courses during their first year of college can save time and money and are twice as likely to graduate as those who do not.
