Winter Break Information

University Housing & Residence Life wishes you success on your finals and congratulates you on the completion of the Fall 2024 semester! Winter Break will soon begin and we ask that all residents check out the information below, whether they are leaving for or remaining on campus for Winter Break.

University Housing & Residence Life facilities will remain open during the Winter Break. Residents are not required to move out or leave campus during the break period and there is no additional cost to remain on campus over the break.

Steps for Residents Leaving for Break but Returning in Spring 2025

Residents Leaving and Returning for Spring

  • Step 1: Complete the Winter Break Form by December 10, 2024
  • Step 2: Complete all Items on the Winter Break Cleaning Checklist
  • Step 3: Confirm apartment door is locked and have a great break

Cleaning Checklist

  • Wipe down and clean counters, sink, tub, shower, and toilets
  • Wash all dirty and put them away
  • Remove perishable items from the fridge
  • All trash, recycling and compost bins have been emptied
  • Floors and carpets have been cleaned
  • Ensure all furniture is not blocking windows or pathways
  • Remove all furniture/items from balconies/patios
  • Close and lock sliding doors and windows
  • Turn off all lights
  • Unplug appliances (except fridge/stove)
  • Submit maintenance requests as needed

Steps for Residents staying on campus during the Winter Break

Residents Staying all Break

  • Step 1: Complete the Winter Break Form by December 10, 2024
  • Step 2: Take out all trash from all spaces by December 16, 2024
  • Step 3: Have a great break

Steps for Approved Cancellation

Residents Moving Out Not Returning

  • Step 1: Reviewed Approved Cancellation Email
  • Step 2: Remove all items from unit and clean your space
  • Step 3: Turn in a Check Out Envelope and accompanying items (keys, to go box card, etc)

 Move Out Checklist

  • Remove all belongings from your space
  • Pick up all mail/packages from the mailroom
  • UHRL will not forward mail left behind, it will be returned to sender
  • Clean your portion of the room
  • Clean common areas in the unit
  • Complete a Check out Envelope
  • Place any keys in the Check out Envelope
  • Do not place Baycard in Check out Envelope
  • If you do not have keys to return submit an empty Check out Envelope
  • Turn of Lights
  • Lock all doors (room, balcony/patio, etc.)
  • Place Check out Envelope in a Check out Box

Completing the Winter Break Form

All residents who will be living on campus for the Spring 2025 semester must complete the Winter Break Form, even if they are not staying over the break. Directions to complete the form can be found below. The form asks residents to provide information regarding whether they will be on or off campus for the break.

The Winter Break Housing Form is required so that University Housing has an accurate lists of residents on campus should there be a campus wide concern/emergency that requires student notification or evacuation.

Winter Break Meetings

University Housing will host meetings for all residents to attend regarding how to prepare your unit if you are leaving for the winter break. If you are unable to attend one of the posted meetings you can view a recording of the meeting.

Winter Break Cleaning Checklist

Each apartment/suite will have a Cleaning Checklist placed on their door. As residents leave for the break they should make the tasks they completed and initial at the bottom of the list when they leave for break. Please note, Housing staff will be entering all apartments/suites December 14th - 18th, 2024 to confirm that all apartments/suites are clean and secure. Failure to complete any of the items could result in your apartment/suite being documented and/or charged for cleaning by our staff.

Staying for the Break?

University Housing and other campus offices/services will have limited hours over the Winter Break. Residents remaining on campus over the Winter Break should contact the Resident Assistant on Duty if support is needed.

Meals

Final Dining Commons meal is dinner on Friday, December 13, 2024

for hours of operation for all dining for all campus venues

First Dining Commons meal for Spring 2024 will be brunch on January 12, 2025.

Shuttle

UHRL Office Hours

The Lassen office will be closed to walk-ins and phone calls from December 18th - January 3rd. With the exception of Campus Closure dates, during this period you can email UHRL at housing@csueastbay.edu. For after hours, campus closures, and weekend calls contact the RA on Duty..

The mailroom will be open 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM from December 16th, 2024 - Jan. 18th, 2025.

Both the Lassen office and Mailroom, as well as the CSUEB campus, will be closed December 23rd - January 1st.
