Eileen Barrett led Project Rebound as its Executive Director from 2022-2023.

Dr. Barrett was a professor of English who taught writing, pedagogy, women's and LGBT literature, feminist and queer theory at Cal State East Bay. Dr. Barrett received numerous awards for her teaching, scholarship, and service. In 2014, she was named Outstanding Professor of the Year. She has taught a required composition course on the theme of democracy and education at Mt Tamalpais College (formerly the Prison University Project). She chairs the Oakland to East Bay Scholarship committee and serves on the Acumen college scholarship for homeless youth committee.

Dr. Barrett retired from Cal State East Bay in 2022 after 35 years of dedicated service. We are thankful for Dr. Barrett's empowering leadership during Project Rebound's first year, which led to tremendous growth of the program and numerous successes for both the program and its Rebound Scholars. Dr. Barrett continues her involvement with Project Rebound in a volunteer capacity, and she is also a member on its Advisory Board.
