Communication With Faculty & Staff

It can be intimidating to communicate with faculty and staff. You may not know how or what to share when you're struggling. Peer Academic Coaches can help you draft emails, make email templates, and prepare questions for office hours. All of this can help you feel confident advocating for yourself and making strong and lasting connections with faculty and staff.

Other Skills and Supports

Many things happen online these days and campus systems are not always easy to navigate. Maybe you need help figuring out the Canvas platform to upload an assignment or make a discussion post. Maybe you're having a hard time navigating MyCSUEB. Maybe you've never made a PowerPoint for a presentation. Peer Academic Coaches can help you learn the systems you need to use to be a successful student.
Peer Academic Coaches are not advisors, but during registration windows every semester, coaches can help you search for, review and enroll in the classes that you need. They can show you how to navigate advising and registration platforms and can help you find answers to questions that come up in the process. They can also help you connect with your academic advisor.
Peer Academic Coaches native to CSU East Bay work in General Studies (GS) classes as a bridge between the students and their professors while facilitating various activities. In a GS course students learn techniques and skills that will help support them throughout their college careers. Throughout the first half of the fall semester, coaches in GS classes will offer one-on-one meetings to get to know students and connect them to resources on campus.
